Why have an Emphasis on Kids in Care?
The American Academy of Pediatrics has declared mental health to be the number unmet need for children in foster care.
Foster care or adoption focused therapy is designed to meet the unique needs of children who are placed in or have a history of being placed in out-of-home care. Children displaced from their family of origin experience trauma no matter what age removal took place. This instantaneous trauma puts these children at higher risk for long term mental and physical health concerns, if left untreated.
Creative Wellness is passionate about children in out-home-care. This vulnerable population and all those that support them are faced with unique challenges, that require specific training to navigate effectively. Our goal is to ensure access to quality, developmentally appropriate, and timely mental health care for all those entangled in the child welfare system.

“When it is disheartening to learn that trauma changes the brain remember… healing changes the brain too”
